6 HOMEMADE BABY PUREES

I was so into wanting to follow the Baby Led Weaning method, but I just couldn’t follow through with it without having a full on anxiety attack watching her eat food.  I was so afraid of it breaking off in her mouth.  I’m following the method now using the GOOtensil and following the guidelines of having her lead the way and tell me when she’s done.  I don’t spoon feed her and shove it in her mouth.  I’ll dip it in the bowl of pureed food that I make and hand it to her and she’ll grab it and feed herself.  She’s usually done at about 2tbsp of food for each feeding.  I’m so obsessed with this GOOtensil!  She loves it so much and instantly wanted to grab it.

I feed her 3x a day.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner. She’s eating with us every time. I nurse her about 4x  a day, so a total of 7 feedings.

You can also buy the Num Num Bowl, so they can eventually dip it themselves and feed themselves, but Liv isn’t  there yet.  I would say about a year she’ll be good to do that.

I wanted to share these easy yummy baby foods.  I’m not into the jars of baby food at the store. The taste nasty.  I just wouldn’t want to eat that processed food if I was a baby haha.  It’s SO simple to make your own.  I do it 2x a week and just leave it in the fridge.   A lot more affordable to do it this way too.  Some of these sound super bizarre, but they taste really good.

One tip I have, cooked white sweet potato will give anything you make a creamy yummy texture.  So just keep that in mind when you’re wanting to create your own!  But here are some I’ve come up with!

You can honestly do any of these for any meal, but I’m going to label them for you the way I feed her, but feel free to feed any of these at any meal!  I’m honestly going to keep adding to this post as I create, but here a few for every meal!

I got you guys 20% OFF your Num Num baby orders for GOOtensils!  Just use my code “lovebylynn”!  All orders $20 and over ship free!

So every 3-4 days I make another batch, but this lasts 3-4 days.  So I’ll just make 3 at a time for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Each time I go to feed I measure out 2 tbsp into a bowl, and warm it up for 15 seconds.   I use THESE JARS, or if you want to get really fancy you can measure out for each feeding and use THESE SMALLER JARS.

I make them Sunday and Thursdays for the next few days.  This makes life so much easier!

PBFIT PROTEIN BARS

I love a treat, but I l0ve a homemade treat that I know whats actually in it and was made in my own home!  I love a healthy treat thats packed with protein, and no refined sugars!

I’ve made countless recipes with PBFIT and I love it because you get the peanut butter taste without all the fat AND it has more protein per serving.  I love making treats with PBFIT.  If this isn’t a staple in your home, what are you doing with your life?

WHAT YOU NEED

-1/2 cup Peanut Butter (I like simple truth or fresh grind from smiths)

DIRECTIONS

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place peanut butter, coconut oil and honey in a small bowl.  Melt in microwave for about 30 seconds, OR over stove top and heat up until coconut oil is melted.
  • Mix up oats, protein powder, super seed mix, PBFit in a bowl.
  • Add peanut butter coconut oil mix to the dry mix and mix together.  It will be a little dry, but feel free to add a little water or honey to it.  The consistency of it is more flakey, but It’s meant to be pressed down into bars, so it will mold into bars once pressed down.
  • Once mixed through press the mixture onto the pan pressing firmly down to ensure that it doesn’t break apart. If you have to do 1/2 pan so it’s thicker you can do that too.  I like them about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Then add your chocolate chips evenly all over and press them into the mixture.  I like to do this rather than adding them in, so they’re evenly placed all over.
  • Place in the freezer for an hour and leave them in there 30 minutes before eating.  Take them out let them unthaw a bit before cutting.  As you can see, they aren’t perfect little squares, it’s more like bark looking.

TIPS: Store them in your fridge for up to 1 week.  Don’t leave them out, otherwise they will be flakey.  You can also leave them in the freezer, which I do because I like them to stay harder.  But if you like them a little more soft then leave them in the freezer.

If you like these, you will my also love the Chocolate Chunk Peanut Butter Balls I created with Better Body Foods and PBFit products!

Like I’ve said before, Better Body Foods is my number one go to for all things baking and cooking.  All real ingredients, nothing hidden, you know what you’re getting!  I strive to keep all the ingredients real at my house for my family.
