BEST ADVICE I’VE BEEN GIVEN AS A NEW MOM

When It comes to raising your first child, you are terrified.  You have no idea what you are doing, and no one can prepare you for what is about to come, and how much your life is going to change, how you’re going to feel as a mom, how you will recover, how is it going to effect your marriage, and how you are going to get through those nights!

You do, and you take the advice from all those moms out there, whether it be your aunt, mom, sister, mother in law, sister in law etc..

When you use their advice and nothing is working you tend to get discouraged thinking what am I doing wrong.  Well that comes to my first advice I got by one of my good friends who just had a baby 4 months before me.

*Listen to their advice, but always listen to yourself and to your baby.  EVERY baby is different and what works for them.

That is the truth! I have tried so many things that she does with her baby, and most don’t work, because our babies are so different.  Babies needs are all different.  You just need to listen to what works for them.

My most favorite advice I have been getting and continue to get, is … *No matter how hard things get, just remember none of it lasts forever, and to enjoy every single stage because it flies by.

And it has flown by.  Oaks is already 3 months, so basically out of that newborn phase.  He no longer falls asleep on my chest anymore.  Those newborn snuggles are gone.  It goes go by so fast, but I took that advice and used it from the moment he was born.  And I am SO glad I did.

He now is jabbering lots, and smiles so much.  He giggles a little sometimes.  There are so many fun things to each stage and I have loved every moment.

Being a mom is a new emotion I have never felt before, a very emotional one.  You love them so much and worry so much about them.  I know that doesn’t go away, but my advice would be is to always stay positive.

Sometimes I feel like I am not doing enough, and worry about what my self worth is, but I have to keep reminding myself I am raising a human being and it NOT easy.  It is 24/7 round the clock job.  You don’t get breaks.  Mental breaks at least haha.

It is harder than anything I have ever done, but the most rewarding.  When they smile back at you it just melts your heart and makes it all worth it.

But all this advice I have taken in and used it and it has helped me stay positive.  Hope it will help you too, because being a mom is the best gift in the world!

OAKS TYLER’S BIRTH STORY

I want to share with you one of the most important, personal and special days of my life.  This video makes me relive this moment every time I watch it.  It was truly the best day of my life.  No one can prepare you for the overwhelming feeling of love you feel that day.

On October 14th, at 3am I woke up with terrible contractions.  I kept thinking am I in labor?  I was scheduled to be induced that morning at 6am, so I couldn’t help but think okay, I can wait it out until then.  There is no way I actually am in labor the day I am getting induced right?  I couldn’t believe.  I tried going back to sleep breathing through the contractions, and counting how far they were apart.  They were 5 minutes apart and by 3:30am I woke up my husband and told him we needed to get going now!  They started getting worse and worse, and I kept thinking “oh my gosh we seriously have got to hurry, what if it is to late to get the epidural!”, “what if we have him in the car!”  I had no idea how any of it works, or what the contractions would even feel like.  My doctor always told me, you will know when you have them and you won’t be able to talk, or smile.  We hurried and got ready, and the funny thing was is my husband kept asking me what he should wear… and I’m like dude really?! Haha, lets get out of here!  He didn’t understand the severity of my contractions because I wasn’t really even talking or acting in pain because I was trying to hold out as long as possible.
We finally arrived to the hospital at 4:30am, and got all checked in and hooked up.  While you are laying in the bed waiting to get induced, the nurse has to go through questions to ask you, and I swear It was the longest moment of my life.  I was having the worst contractions and I am thinking lady… can you give me the epidural and we can continue this later!  I was so hard to answer while in labor!

So I finally got my epidural at about 6am, and then I was comfortable and just so excited and so nervous!  The moments with my husband leading up to it were amazing.  He was acting so nervous, it was the cutest thing.  He kept pacing the room and looking out the window and just kept asking how I was doing.  It was the best.

I progressed pretty quickly.  This guy wanted to come in the world!  As you know I was a week late, so I was hoping for a quick and easy delivery!  At about 12pm I was at a 5, and then at 1pm I was at a 9!  I could not believe it.  My videographer had to hurry down, and by 2pm I was pushing.  Let me just say, that it is the hardest thing to push!!  I did not even realize how much energy it takes!  I feel pretty lucky though, because I got him out in 20 minutes.  It did feel like 2 hours though!  So keep up your exercise during pregnancy because you need that energy and strength for when it is time to push!

When he was here it was so surreal… I couldn’t believe it.  The emotions you feel are so overwhelming and I looked down and just balled.  It was the most beautiful feeling in the whole world.  They had to hurry and cut his cord and take him over to suck out his lunges, because he took a bowel movement in my stomach and they didn’t want to get that in his lunges.  My husband wasn’t able to cut the cord because of it, but I am glad he was fine and didn’t end up breathing up anything.

As they were cleaning him off and getting him ready I just couldn’t believe how huge he was!  He was 9lbs 1 oz.  My husband and I were both 7lb babies, so it amazed me!  They put him on my chest skin to skin and that moment I will never forget.  I was in heaven… all this time carrying him in my belly and he is finally here on my chest.  He was perfect in every way.  He has got the biggest little hands and the sweetest little lips.  I just loved every moment of this day.  My love for my husband has become that much greater.  Watching him hold him for the first time melted my heart.  I am so happy I got all of those special first moments on video.  This day has changed my whole world!  It has changed everything, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.  Oaks Tyler Wardell is the newest guy in our family and we could not be happier.  Our home is so full of love and happiness.  A newborn baby brings you so much joy!
